Journey to Wallowa with Yvonne: A Dog-Friendly Day in Portland

Updated: Sep 9, 2023

We were pleasantly surprised by the city of Portland and had a nice day exploring, it's certainly a unique city with a character of its own - definitely different. As always, the first thing we had to do was find a dog-friendly restaurant for brunch, and that happened to be Tin Shed: Garden Cafe (reservations are required).

I forgot what I ordered, I didn't realize this would be my first restaurant-related blog post, but luckily I was that guy, and had to take a picture. It. Was. DELICIOUS.

A rare but much-appreciated touch was the actual dog food menu for Hazey.

I remember it was seriously good stuff, and she ate around one specific vegetable...classic Hazey being a picky eater (spoiled). After fueling up we decided to just walk around the area and get a feel for the vibes, stopped by a few stores, and had a great experience. Just some flower and food shops, etc.

But this trip was not really designed to be a city adventure, we were looking to get out in nature. So we headed back to the Airbnb on the cliff and just chilled out for a bit before seeing if maybe we would find a place to go kayaking later in the evening. We found a spot right down the cliff on the other side of the river from our Airbnb, but when we got there we realized we would have had to carry the kayaks down a very steep, sandy cliff, so we decided to take it easy and just relax on the beach and walk around for a while.

We had a long day of driving ahead of us the next day, so we were happy to find a place nearby to explore this day.

Later in the evening, we were lucky enough to find another restaurant with outdoor seating and space heaters that would accept Hazey sitting with us outside. Not the love we got from Tin Shed, but appreciated nonetheless.

Unfortunately, it was not memorable enough to get credit or a review, but I know they had really good soup, and it was right on the Columbia River with a nice view. A day well spent in Portland, and the adventure has just begun!
